How to be a Sustainable Traveller
We’re proud members of Green Tourism and we encourage our guests to be mindful of the environment. Be a sustainable traveller by following our Guest Charter:
1. CONSERVE ENERGY
You can reduce energy consumption by switching off lights when you’re not in the apartment, turning off any appliances at the wall when you are not using them and close the windows if you’re popping the heating on.
2. BE WATER WISE
Please use water wisely. For instance, only fill the kettle with the amount of water you require and if you only have a few dirty dishes, leave them in the sink for our housekeeping team who will hand wash them rather than loading the dishwasher.
3. USE WHAT YOU NEED
An easy one for a sustainable traveller. If you only need one or two pillows, please pop the other ones in the wardrobe. The same goes for the towels and any robes can be left tied on their hooks if unused.
4. SUPPORT FELLOW INDIES AND SHOP LOCAL
Birmingham has a wealth of independent shops, restaurants and bars. We will give you an Independent Birmingham card on your key fob, so that you can enjoy special offers and discounts at independents all over the city. For inspiration, please check out our blog on Birmingham independents.
5. GO ON FOOT
Walking the city is great for the environment. There are some great places to visit around town and you’ll stumble upon some other gems en route. Take in some culture at the stunning city library, relax at the bars and restaurants along the canals of Brindley Place or peruse Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter for something extra special. All are just a short walk from Rotunda. We’ve also created some walking tours for you – ask at reception.
6. LET THE TRAIN TAKE THE STRAIN
We lie midway between two mainline railway stations, so getting pretty much anywhere in the country or the region starts with just a three-minute walk. If you are exhibiting at or visiting the NEC, we will even buy your train tickets for you so you don’t even have to queue. Just ask at reception about our NEC VIP package.
7. GREEN CITY
Rotunda is located right in the centre of town. Please help us to look after the city and beyond by doing the obvious things: don’t litter, use public walkways and cycle responsibly.
There are plenty of Birmingham green spaces for guests to explore if you want somewhere to relax. Our team have a vast knowledge of the area and the best places to go, so don’t hesitate to ask if you’re looking for recommendations or directions.
8. GREEN GUEST FEEDBACK
Be sure to let us know how we’re doing, as a company we’re always open to new ideas to be more green, no matter how unusual they may be. If there’s something you think we could do better, tell us. We are working towards a Gold Award from Green Tourism, so we are always looking for innovative ideas to get us there. Read about the Green Ideas that we have put into action to travel sustainably.
